A Comic Show 11.27.18: Heroes In Crisis To Nuclear Winter!

By | A Comic Show | No Comments

Hey Fandom! This week’s Heroes In Crisis #3 is good new for this Booster Gold fan, DC’s Nuclear Winter has some fun Mark Russell on Rip Hunter, Drowned Earth finishes in time for DeConnick’s run on Aquaman, and Middleton’s Batgirl #29 cover is a masterpiece.

Over at Marvel Uncanny X-Men, Return of Wolverine, Fantastic Four, and Amazing Spider-Man continue to impress. “Marvel Action Spider-Man” #1, the all-ages IDW published book, was fun and I like having it ready for fans of the new Spider-verse movie.

I’m excited for next week’s Doomsday Clock and Geoff Johns’ Shazam #1 whenever that gets here.

A Comic Show 11.21.18: Carnage & Go-bots Reborn!

By | A Comic Show | No Comments

Hey Fandom, it’s Thanksgiving week as we gear up for our Black Friday Sale at our shop, but there’s still some great comics out to discuss.

I was mainly impressed with Cates’ Web of Venom: Carnage Born one-shot and IDW’s Go-bots. Those two books are what I’m most thankful for this week. But I talk about plenty of other ones too. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

A Comic Show 11.14.18: Uncanny X-Men #1 & Stan Lee!

By | A Comic Show | No Comments

Hey Fandom! I’m back from NC Comicon, ready to reflect on Stan Lee and talk this week’s new comics.

Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men #1 is a return to the mutants I love doing mutant stuff with other mutant, and I’m a happy fanboy. All the meddling it seemed like Marvel was doing (and in some cases we know they were doing) appear to be at an end. We have plenty of our favorites fighting evil mutants, other X-Men, and warding off ominous apocalyptic futures. I also dug Avengers #700, Cosmic Ghost Rider #3, and Fantastic Four #3.

At DC G. Willow Wilson’s first issue of her Wonder Woman run is off to a good start, and Tom King’s Mister Miracle finale stuck the landing.

My favorite new title, Captain Ginger, continued to impress. Dark Horse’s giving Alien 3 another chance at what might have been. And we have a double shot of Whedon with both Firefly #1 and a Dr. Horrible one-shot.

Also, check out our Facebook live online “auction” and show on Tuesday nights from 8:30-10:30pm EST at facebook.com/a.comic.shop for all kinds of weirdness in Pops, back issues, and new books a day early!

A Comic Show 10.24.18: Wolverine, Ghost Spider, & Drowned Earth

By | A Comic Show | No Comments

Hey Fandom, I’m back with comics i liked this week. I’m really digging the nostalgic vibe Return of Wolverine is giving me, I’m still on spider overload with the Geddons and Gwens, and this new Punisher series absolutely delivers. Image’s Burnouts say no to aliens and yes to drugs…for the sake of all humanity. And DC’s Drowned Earth and Witching Hour crossovers are both wins for the post Metal DCU.

A Comic Show 10.3.18: Tom King Foils DC!

By | A Comic Show | No Comments

Hey Fandom! I’m back repping Booster Gold, and explain how I feel he’ll save the day and The Flash in Heroes In Crisis. I also talk about Batman #56, Nightwing #50, Witching Hour, and this limited color palette foil covers. Also Wonder Woman Earth One volume two hardcover and Batman White Knight softcover are out.

For Marvel I enjoyed Superior Octopus for Spider-Geddon, X- Men Black Magneto, and Shatter-Star. Rainbow Brite put a smile on my face. Mark (The Flintstones) Russell’s Lone Ranger is all about Manifest Destiny. Humphries and Bartel’s new Image title, Blackbird, was beautiful, Duggan and McCrea’s Dead Rabbit was ugly. Both were solid first issues. And Pia Guerra’s Me The People is spot political satire.

A Comic Show 9.26.18: Holy Massacre Heroes In Crisis!

By | A Comic Show | No Comments

Crisis #1! You have my condolences if one of your favorites was killed, by Tom King is definitely writing unafraid like he told me he would back at SDCC. Also, locals to A Comic Shop will get the special treat of meeting Clay Mann in person here today for the release! Here’s the event link: https://www.facebook.com/events/66952…

Doomsday Clock #7 is the JSA and Dr. Manhattan issues I’ve been waiting for since the beginning. Justice League Odyssey is sci-fi goodness by Williamson and Sejic. Over at Marvel you can overdose on Spider-Men with Spider-Geddon #0 and be horrified by Punisher in World War Frank part 2. Stranger Thing #1 features what Will was actually doing in the Upside Down during season one. Chelsea Cain may be dead to Marvel, but she’s glittering over at Image with her Man-Eaters. And Saga volume 9 is out today!

A Comic Show 9.12.18: A Fantastic Week on the Wrong Earth!

By | A Comic Show, Comics | No Comments

Hey Fandom! It’s new comic day and my birthday, so I’m loving life right now. For Marvel I enjoyed Fantastic Four 2, Amazing Spider-man 5, Champions 24, and Infinity Wars 3. Over at DC I reviewed Superman 3, Supergirl 23, Catwoman 3, and Hawkman 4.

There were several creator owned books that caught my attention like Eliis’ Cemetery Beach, Moth & Whisper, Wrong Earth, and Oblivion Song. Hope you find something you dig this week!
